Restore the Factory Finish on Your Diamond-Cut Alloys
A diamond-cut finish has a bright, precision-machined face that catches the light like no other wheel. But that same finish is the most vulnerable to damage: a single kerb, a chip in the lacquer or a patch of corrosion can dull the shine and let moisture creep under the clear coat. At Mario's Wheel Repair we re-machine and re-seal diamond-cut alloys back to their original, flawless finish — serving drivers across London & Essex from our Grays workshop.
This page covers our diamond cut repair service. If you want the technical detail on why lacquer peels, how corrosion starts and how many times a wheel can safely be re-cut, read our in-depth diamond cut alloy wheels guide.
What We Repair
- Kerb scuffs and scratches to the machined face
- Peeling, cloudy or lifting lacquer
- White-worm corrosion under the clear coat
- Minor edge damage (assessed for safety first)
- Tired wheels needing a full re-cut and refresh
If a wheel is cracked, buckled or structurally damaged, that is repaired first through our alloy wheel repair service before any machining — your safety comes before the finish.
Our Diamond Cut Process
1. Inspection & safety check
We measure the rim, check how much material remains from any previous cuts, and confirm the wheel is safe to machine.
2. Strip & preparation
The old lacquer is removed and any corrosion is treated back to clean, sound metal.
3. CNC re-cut
Using a precision lathe, we re-machine the face to restore the sharp, light-catching diamond-cut pattern. For bespoke patterns and custom work, see our CNC refacing service.
4. Lacquer & seal
A fresh protective lacquer is applied to lock in the finish and guard against corrosion.
5. Cure, balance & check
The coating is fully cured and the wheel is checked before it goes back on your car.
Diamond Cut Limits — and When Powder Coating Is Better
A diamond-cut wheel can only be re-cut a limited number of times before too much metal has been removed to do it safely. If your wheels are already cut thin, heavily corroded, or you simply want a more hard-wearing finish, a durable powder-coated refurbishment is often the smarter long-term choice. We will always measure first and give you honest advice rather than re-cut a wheel that should not be.
Pricing
Diamond cut repair is priced per wheel and depends on the wheel size and the extent of the damage and corrosion. See our prices page for current guide pricing, or send us photos of your wheels for a fast, no-obligation quote.

Diamond Cut Wheel Repair FAQs
How many times can a diamond cut alloy wheel be repaired?
Each diamond cut removes a thin layer of metal from the face, so a wheel can usually be re-cut a limited number of times before too much material is lost. We measure and inspect every wheel first and advise honestly whether re-cutting is safe or whether a powder coat finish is the better long-term option.
How long does diamond cut wheel repair take?
A typical diamond cut refurbishment is completed within 2 to 3 working days, depending on the level of damage, corrosion and the finish required. We confirm the timeframe after inspecting your wheels.
Can you repair lacquer peel and corrosion on diamond cut wheels?
Yes. Peeling lacquer and white corrosion under the clear coat are the most common diamond cut problems we fix. We strip the old lacquer, treat the corrosion, re-machine the face and re-seal it with a fresh protective coat.
Is diamond cutting better than powder coating?
They serve different goals. Diamond cutting gives the bright, machined two-tone look but can only be re-cut so many times; powder coating is more durable and can be done in any colour. We help you choose based on your wheel's condition and the finish you want.
