Cracked Wheel Welding

Cracks happen — from deep potholes, to unexpected kerbs or hard impacts. Our professional TIG aluminium welding service is designed to restore your cracked alloy wheels safely and effectively, saving you the cost of a replacement.

What’s Included?

  • Full Check-Up: We carefully inspect for visible and hidden cracks, stress fractures, or rim separation.
  • TIG Welding: Strong, controlled welds using professional-grade equipment, ideal for aluminium alloys.
  • Smooth Finish: Welds are blended into the wheel surface for a seamless finish and added durability.
  • Leak & Pressure Test: We ensure your wheel holds air under pressure and is road-safe.
  • Mount & Balance: Tyres are refitted and wheels are rebalanced to restore drive performance.

Repair time

We aim to complete most wheel welding repairs within 1–2 hours, depending on the severity of the crack and our current queue. You’ll receive real-time progress updates from the team.

Is Wheel Welding Right for You?

This service is ideal for fixing:

  • Small to Medium Hairline Cracks
  • Minor Rim Fractures
  • Air Leaks Caused by Split Alloy Edges
  • Stress Cracks Near the Inner or Outer Lip

✅ Best if you want to:

  • Avoid costly wheel replacements
  • Safely drive again without leaks
  • Repair damage from potholes or kerbing

⚠️ When Welding Isn’t the Answer

If the crack is too wide, affects the structural integrity, or has extended into critical load-bearing areas, we’ll advise against repair and suggest replacement or re-manufacture options.

Your safety comes first — we never weld wheels that are beyond safe recovery.

FAQ

Q1. Can a cracked alloy wheel be repaired?

Yes, in most cases. We offer professional alloy wheel welding to repair cracks caused by potholes, kerbs, or stress fractures. All repairs are pressure-tested to ensure safety.

Q2. Is it safe to weld a cracked wheel?

When done professionally, welding a cracked alloy wheel is safe. We only carry out welding when the damage is minor to moderate and does not compromise the structural integrity. Unsafe wheels will be flagged for replacement.

Q3. How much does alloy wheel welding cost?

Our crack welding services start from £70, depending on the size, location, and depth of the crack. We always provide a full assessment and upfront quote before starting work.

Q4. How long does a wheel weld repair take?

Most welded repairs can be completed same-day or next-day. Severe cracks or multiple damaged areas may take longer.

Q5. Do you guarantee your welded wheel repairs?

Yes. All weld repairs are carried out to industry standards and come with a 6-month workmanship guarantee.

Q6. Can I drive on a cracked alloy wheel before repair?

We strongly advise against it. Cracked wheels can worsen quickly and may result in tyre damage or loss of control. Book a free inspection as soon as you notice the damage.

Q7. Do you repair motorcycle wheels?

Yes, we can refurbish and repair motorcycle wheels.

Buckled Alloy Wheel Repair

Hit a pothole or kerb too hard? Buckled wheels can cause vibrations, tyre wear, and unsafe handling. Our precision straightening process restores your wheels to factory specs, giving you a safer, smoother ride — without replacing them.

What’s Included?

  • Full Check-Up: We inspect for visible bends, hidden flat spots, cracks, and safety risks.
  • Precision Straightening: Advanced hydraulic reshaping to restore your wheel's roundness and alignment.
  • Heat Treatment: Carefully controlled heating improves durability and ensures long-lasting strength.
  • Leak & Pressure Test: We confirm the wheel holds pressure and is road-ready.
  • Mount & Balance: Tyres are professionally reinstalled and balanced for smooth performance.

Repair time

Most buckled alloy wheel repairs are completed within 1–2 hours, depending on severity and our current workload. We’ll keep you updated throughout the process.

When Do You Need Wheel Straightening?

Here are the tell-tale signs something’s not quite right:

  • Steering Wheel Vibrations at certain speeds
  • Visible Dents or Bends on the inner or outer rim
  • Uneven Tyre Wear from poor wheel alignment
  • Impact Damage from potholes, kerbs, or speed bumps
  • Tyre Pressure Loss from a poor rim seal

⚠️ Limitations & Safety First

If your wheel has deep structural damage, cracks, or multiple impact points, straightening alone may not be enough. We’ll inspect and recommend:

  • Welding for cracked areas
  • Refinishing for cosmetic damage
  • Replacement if safety is compromised

💬 Not sure if it’s just a buckle or more? Book a free wheel check — we’ll advise the safest and most cost-effective option.

FAQ

Q1. Can a buckled wheel be repaired?

Yes. Using hydraulic straightening equipment, we can restore most bent or buckled alloy wheels to factory shape, improving balance and drive safety.

Signs include vibration through the steering wheel, uneven tyre wear, and a wobbling sensation at higher speeds. We offer free inspections to confirm the issue.

Q4. Is wheel straightening safe?

Yes—when performed with the correct machinery and by skilled technicians. We measure tolerances and ensure each wheel is safe and balanced before refitting.

Q5. How long does wheel straightening take?

Most buckled wheel repairs are completed within 1–2 hours. Complex cases may require more time or an overnight stay.

Q6. How much does buckled wheel repair cost?

Prices start from £70 per wheel depending on the extent of the damage. We’ll always quote after inspection so there are no surprises.
